How Are Attorney Fees Determined?
The minimum fee tariff sets the floor. Attorneys may charge above the tariff based on case complexity, but cannot charge below it. Fees vary by court level (first instance, appellate, supreme court) and case type.
Court-Awarded Attorney Fees
The losing party in a lawsuit is ordered to pay an attorney fee to the winning party. This court-awarded fee follows the tariff and may differ from what you actually pay your attorney.
